FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS A CLINICAL NEUROPSYCHOLOGIST?

Clinical Neuropsychologists are experts in understanding the relationship between the brain and human behaviour. They use their understanding of the brain and cognition to perform detailed assessments of brain function.

WHAT IS A NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT?

A neuropsychological assessment typically takes between 3-4 hours to complete. The appointment comprises:

  • A clinical interview to understand your background, concerns, and symptoms;

  • Formal assessment using standardised neuropsychological tests. The tests are typically paper and pencil based or involve answering questions

After your assessment is completed, your results are analysed and a report is prepared to meet the needs of your referral (e.g., clinical, diagnostic, rehabilitation, medico-legal).

DO I NEED A REFERRAL?

A referral is recommended. We accept referrals from medical doctors (GPs and specialists), lawyers, insurers, and government and health departments.

WHAT ARE THE FEES?

Our fees are guided by the Australian Psychological Society fee schedule. The fee for a neuropsychological assessment depends on the nature, purpose and complexity of the case (e.g., clinical, diagnostic or medico-legal). The length of time needed to conduct an assessment and prepare a report can vary greatly depending on the referral. Please get in touch to discuss your referral and for further information regarding our fees.
